Rev. Jim Lewis

Jim Lewis accepted the position of chief executive officer of Long Beach Rescue Mission in August of 2006 after having served as CEO of the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission. Jim and his wife, Leslie, served as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators for 10 years - he in Communications and Public Relations, and she as a teacher. Jim and Leslie recently celebrated their 30th anniversary.

Jim has a long history of community service and is actively involved in the Long Beach community. His local involvements include: LB Rotary; LB Chamber of Commerce - Government Affairs Committee; Central Project Area Committee; LB Nonprofit Partnership; LB Coalition for the Homeless; LB Neighborhood Foundation - Advisory Board; LB Police Academy - Community Forum Speaker; Leadership Long Beach - EQS '07 & Health & Social Services Day Chair; and he also serves as Pacific District Vice-President for the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions.

An ordained Senior Chaplain, Jim studied Nonprofit Organization Management at UC Riverside and is pursuing an MA in Global Leadership at Fuller Theological Seminary. Leslie has an MA in Education and teaches third grade in the Palos Verdes Peninsula School District. They are proud parents of four grown children.

Nathaniel is a Nuclear ELT Machinist Mate Second Class in the US Navy; Molly recently completed a Masters in Literature at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland; Emily is married to Chris Ritchey and is a Counselor at Santa Barbara High School; and Amanda is serves in the area of sustainable agriculture, and accomplished a 4000-mile bicycle trek from San Diego to Guatemala and Mexico City.
