2008 Backpack Drive

2008 Backpack Drive

When September arrives, most households are eager to start a new school year. However, many parents in the Long Beach community come face-to-face with their own lack of resources to provide their children with adequate school supplies to succeed.  That is why here, at the Long Beach Rescue Mission, we have committed to enabling the success of thousands of children by equipping them with the school supplies that they need.

Thanks to our generous donors, last year more than 2,000 boys and girls received backpacks full of school supplies.

Backpacks will help at-risk kids succeed in school. In partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District, our goal this year is to provide over 3,200 children with full backpacks to kick-start their year in a positive way.  The annual backpack drive is an exciting way for us to support more than 10 Long Beach area schools and provide at-risk children a way to thrive in the upcoming school year.

You can get involved in the 2008 Backpack Drive by making a monetary donation to assist us in filling backpacks, providing us with a backpack and/or supplies, or volunteering to help assemble the backpacks.  For more information contact Jenn Gold at (562) 591-1292 or jgold@lbrm.org.
