Operation Safe Shelter - Long Beach Rescue Mission

A piece of cast-off cardboard can be a homeless person's best friend – or last resort. If you're lucky enough to get a whole box, it can be a home. Or the only suitcase you have for your meager belongings.

Thanks to your help, here at Long Beach Rescue Mission, we replace cardboard with warm beds, serviceable shoes, clothing and a place to shelter from cold winter nights. We also provide hot meals and the means to end homelessness through our programs – one person at a time.

Mike spent a lot of time living on the streets. "No matter what I did, I couldn't stay sober for a significant amount of time. There were times when I felt that I was just wandering the earth and not doing anything of any significance."

Feeling lost, broken and unloved, Mike returned to Long Beach Rescue Mission. Once he entered our New Life Program, Mike began to understand that he was not alone in his struggles. "There's a way out, and it's through Christ… I give Him my struggles and He takes care of them."
