We all have times in our lives when we feel "hopeless." But with time, prayer, healing and the support of family and friends, those times usually pass away.
It's different when you're hungry, homeless, or addicted to drugs or alcohol. When you're living on the streets or being abused, hope is often hard to find.
For many people like Jennifer and her family, Long Beach Rescue Mission is their last hope.
Jennifer, her husband and two children have been homeless on and off for the last three years. Even though her husband is a skilled worker, he's also a recovering drug addict with a prison record. "He's a good welder, but when it comes to getting a permanent job, they do a background check and see his record."
Even though there is no place in Long Beach to house intact families, Lydia House was able to provide Jennifer and her two young sons a place to stay, while the Samaritan House was able to offer her husband a bed in order to keep the family as close as possible.
"My husband and I may not be perfect, but we're trying to raise our kids different. It's not fair for them to have to pay the price for our mistakes. Sometimes, it's hard to get people to understand that there's more to us than just being homeless."
This spring we want to make sure everyone like Jennifer who comes to the Mission gets a Message of Hope.
You can help us offer Hope to someone by giving a secure donation that we can put to work immediately.
You see, when generous friends donate online, we not only are able to use the gifts immediately, but it also saves us administrative costs.
